Welcome to Lake Austin Spa. Just 40 rooms and 30 minutes outside of downtown Austin. Relaxed, comfortable, beautiful.
What I loved about retreating at Lake Austin was that I could actually take the resort boat into Austin for dinner if I wanted – and I did for a spectacular dinner at the Eberly!
But if you want to stay put and relax, the resort is truly inviting and chilled out.
The spa is glorious – stay for lunch, swim in the heated pool in the barn, or just indulge in some therapy!
Work out on the lake or just sunbathe – the setting feels like a resort but it is an adults only, completely self-indulgent “me” space. Paddle, drink, sun, or swim – your call – and no sign up required.
The rooms are basic but comfortable – with small outdoor sitting areas, some with lake views.
Food is delicious – my favorite breakfast ever – savory oatmeal with organic garden vegetable and a single poached egg.
Dinner is a delight as well – this gorgeous lamb dish did not disappoint!
Best of all the trainers are fantastic – incredibly attentive, experienced, and in tune with each guest. Half of the classes I attended would be considered personal training at other facilities – great trainer to guest ratio!
Lake Austin spa is a fantastic wellness escape with a great menu and wine list. It’s a place to detox on the lake (actually a river) while visiting Austin or a place to escape Austin altogether – your choice! Austin is as happening as ever and, as far as hotels go, will soon welcome a new Miraval Resort to compete in the wellness sector. A new Auberge Hotel will compete with the old favorite, Four Seasons. And for those that want to be on Rainey Street – arguably the best dining and bar scene – the Kimpton may be the answer.
Keeping Austin Weird but adding some wonderful and eclectic hotel options to the mix.
