Chicago is a fabulous city. Some say it has replaced New York as America’s most food forward city! There is a thriving restaurant and bar scene, shopping is fantastic, you can see Hamilton at a fraction of the cost of seeing it on Broadway, the architecture is gorgeous, and there is no shortage of spectacular luxury hotels. What’s not to love?
The Resort to Laura Madrid team decided to catch Chicago for a little pre-Christmas cheer and it was a beautiful time to visit this dynamic city!
We were lucky enough to stay at the luxurious Peninsula Hotel, a favorite for Resort to Laura Madrid clients.
The rooms at the Peninsula are constantly being updated and the product is fresh, clean, and very comfortable. The technology is unparalleled – it’s both user-friendly and state-of-the-art.
The sky high fitness center and pool certainly inspires an early morning work out!
Chicago boasts some of America’s most interesting and iconic architecture, making a summertime boat tour the ideal way to learn about and experience it. In the winter, an indoor architectural tour is the perfect way to understand the history of the loop without freezing off your tootsies!
Randolph Street is a great spot for bar hopping and dining. We enjoyed fantastic drinks at the Lunatic, the Lover and the Poet (unfortunately now closed) and a spectacular dinner at Girl and the Goat.
We spent our second day in the city visiting several of our favorite hotels and reconnecting with the hoteliers who take such great care of our clients!
Our first stop was The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, which, until recently, was managed by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and operated as one of two Four Seasons properties in the city for the past 40 years. But now, The Ritz-Carlton has finally obtained rights to the name and manages the property under its namesake (confusing isn’t it?). It is clear that it is a Ritz-Cartlon hotel as soon as you enter the lobby of Watertower place and are escorted by bellmen up the lobby. The public space of this large hotel has been completely reimagined and refreshed with an inviting lobby, restaurant, cafe, and bar. The room product has not been updated but has a tremendous number of options with beautiful Lake Michigan views and with connecting rooms for families.
Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, located on the upper floors of 900 North Michigan Avenue, is the longest running 5-star and 5-diamond rated hotel in the city. It is a gracious and comfortable hotel with an intimate lobby and an incredible art collection. Service at Four Seasons is always a guarantee! Families love the Kids for all Seasons Club and the Ice Cream Man who visits guests in their room. Adults adore visits from the Martini Man!
The Langham is located at River North and is within walking distance to some of the best restaurants and neighborhoods in the city! The design is modern with wall to ceiling windows. The club lounge is well worth the splurge!
What a great day of site inspections around town! Below are our goodie bags of information and treats from our visits to the Peninsula, Four Seasons, The Ritz-Carlton, and the Langham. So many options and each perfectly suited to the different tastes and interests of Resort to Laura Madrid clients. Please let me know what is on your mind for your Chicago visit and I can of course ensure you are at the hotel that will expertly take care of you during your stay in the Windy City!
The Spa at the Peninsula is a dream! A massage is the perfect day to finish an afternoon of shopping (or site inspections in our case). Guests are greeted with a glass of bubbles and encouraged to lounge fire side before and after their treatments. The massage was absolutely glorious!
The Peninsula offers special access to many of the city’s best attractions including fantastic seats to see Hamilton. A little amenity was sent to our room to set the tone and get us excited for the evening to come!
What a production at a great little theatre!
A superb treat for this A-Team!
