One of my favorite parts of a wellness retreat stay is learning how to make some of these nutrient-dense and delicious foods at home!
Set in a light-filled demonstration kitchen, the Palace’s chef guided us in preparing a beautifully composed lunch using seasonal vegetables, healing broths, and nutrient-rich grains. Each step was paired with thoughtful explanations, not just of technique, but of intention—why the body benefits from certain pairings, and how to bring that awareness into the rhythm of daily life.





Garden Walks and Quiet Joys
Walking the gardens at Palace Merano became its own form of therapy. Impeccably maintained, fragrant, and humming with life, they offer a gentle place to wander, breathe deeply, and reset between treatments.




Takeaways to Treasure
There are always great takeaways from each wellness retreat and I usually depart with a small list of “lessons learned” and things I incorporate into my routine once back at home.
Here are some of my takeaways from my retreat at Palace Merano – simple but impactful:
- A small bite before a workout—a few almonds or some fruit or honey – helps the body perform.
- Eat breakfast before coffee to ease acidity and support digestion.
- Concentrate proteins and complex carbohydrates in the earlier part of the day. Keep dinner lighter and easier to digest.
- Choose raw vegetables at lunch. Cooked vegetables in the evening are more supportive for restful sleep.
- Step away from your screen at lunchtime. Eat slowly. Take a short walk.
- Take one day a week and consume only broths. It gives your body a break from working hard to digest.
