“The Hive” Private Residence: Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica’s famed Peninsula Papagayo, THE HIVE is the most luxurious secluded hideaway on the country’s north coast.

Below a beautiful welcome with customized coconuts….

….and a welcome drink made of the national liquor, Guaro. The name comes from Aguardiente, literally fire water, but it’s actually pretty tame when mixed with a beautiful local fruit juice!

The Hive

The property also has an Infinity pool, screening room, fitness area, games area, spa treatment room, hammam, show kitchen, chef’s kitchen, and soon access to a private beach club.

The Hive is exotic and special, yet completely comfortable and inviting.

A design aficionado’s dream, this sleek modern home of over 16,000 sf seems to be floating between the sea and sky.

The home is exquisite in every sense with gorgeous details in art and furnishing throughout.

ACCOMMODATIONS

THE HIVE can accommodate 16 guests in six bedrooms including a bunk room for older kids.

Each of THE HIVE’s six en suite bedrooms were designed to cater to individual tastes. From bold to soft, dramatic to serene, you’ll want to explore and then choose the bedroom with the pura vida that speaks to you. Three bedrooms each offer an outdoor terraza—a perch above the jungle to exhale before you open a book, then slowly find yourself nodding off for an unexpected nap. Dreamy bathrooms are ideal for a luxe bath experience, and bedroom sitting areas create cocoon-like spaces for a cup of coffee and a bit of quiet time to take in the view. As you awake each morning and turn toward the windows, the curtains open to reveal another show, different than the day before, put on by the sea, sun, and sky.

Entertaining at The Hive is a big part of the show!

…and there are plenty of spaces to gather!

Dining at THE HIVE is an adventure in itself, with the residence’s full-time chef guiding guests through an array of gourmet dishes that focus on the freshest seafood and produce Costa Rica offers.

Exploring The Peninsula Papagayo and beyond in Costa Rica

The surrounding Peninsula offers an abundance of outdoor sports such as tennis, golf, mountain biking, bird watching, hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, Speer fishing, canoeing, and so much more. THE HIVE comes with a dedicated, full-time concierge who will plan activities such as zip-lining through the rainforest, hiking the volcano, deep sea fishing, and private surf lessons while also acting as a sort of in-the-know, local guide to Costa Rica’s authentic culture.

A beautiful cave found on one of the many beaches of the Peninsula.

Peninsula Papagayo

Four Seasons Resort Papagayo Peninsula was the original anchor of this peninsula which jets out 4 miles into the Pacific and now also has an Andaz Resort, a soon-to-open Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and a nearby Aman. Along with very high-caliber private residences, there will be no shortage of luxe in the Guanacaste region!

Costa Rica has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best places on the planet to watch wildlife. Despite covering just over 51,000 sq km, less than half the size of England, it packs in an astonishing diversity of animals; according to scientists, there are 615 species for every 10,000 sq km, the highest anywhere on earth.

From technicolored toucans to sea turtles, sloths, hummingbirds, and humpback whales, Costa Rica is a paradise for wildlife lovers, and with 27 national parks, 13 forest reserves, eight biological reserves, and countless wildlife refuges to choose from, it’s a country that takes protecting its wildlife with the seriousness it deserves.
